Argentina to Launch Center for Holocaust and Human Rights Studies

Tomorrow, the Isaac Abarbanel University Institute will present the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence 'René Cassin', an initiative of the European Union's Erasmus+ program dedicated to the study of Holocaust memory, antisemitism prevention, and human rights policies. The announcement coincides with the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust, which the United Nations established on January 27 each year as a focal point for global memory, education, and fundamental rights policies, as reported by the Argentine News Agency. The center aims to analyze European policies related to Holocaust memory, combating antisemitism, and human rights, and to study their impact on Latin America through interdisciplinary research, specialized training, and international academic cooperation. Its lines of work include academic research, organization of international seminars and debates, training in ethical leadership and justice, institutional cooperation, and the publication of specialized content and books. For the next two years, the program plans to create an International University Network, hold international conferences under Argentina's presidency of the IHRA, offer courses and diplomas, and research and publish four books. The inauguration will take place tomorrow from 10 to 11 in the Auditorium Hall of the Institute of the Foreign Service, located at the headquarters of the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at Esmeralda 1212, 5th floor, sector C, in downtown Buenos Aires. During the event, Ambassador Fabiana Loguzzo, Argentina's special representative to the IHRA; Ariel Stofenmacher, rector of the Isaac Abarbanel University Institute; and Eran Nagan, chargé d'affaires ad interim of the European Union Delegation in Argentina, will speak. The institutional presentation of the Center will be given by Agustín Ulanovsky, the project director. The center's professional team also includes Hernán Najenson, Silvina Chemen, Pamela Malewicz, Natalia Montesano, Cecilia Denot, and Flavia Vaccarezza. The event will bring together diplomats, national officials, university authorities, specialists in education and memory policies, representatives of civil society organizations, and academic and journalistic figures.
